New feature in Microsoft Teams: real-time AI-powered translation
At the end of last year, Microsoft announced the launch of a new innovative feature for the Microsoft Teams platform. Thanks to artificial intelligence, by the first quarter of 2025, users will be able to translate conversations in Teams in real time, with the translation sounding as if it were spoken by the speaker themselves. This technology promises to transform communication within multilingual teams and eliminate language barriers in work environments. Thanks to neural speech synthesis technology, translated messages will sound as if they were spoken by the original speaker, preserving the timbre, intonation and speed of speech.
The initial version of the online translator will be available exclusively to Microsoft 365 subscribers and will include up to 9 languages. It is planned to support multilingual online meetings with translation of 31 languages later.
“We aim to make the world more interconnected, and this feature is a significant step in this direction. Using innovative AI technology, users will be able to have productive conversations without language barriers,” commented in Microsoft.
The new feature will become part of the standard functionality of Microsoft Teams, enabling millions of users around the world to experience the significant benefits of modern technologies and integrate artificial intelligence into their daily work.
This initiative is another confirmation of Microsoft’s commitment to implementing innovations that facilitate the work of multinational teams, overcome language barriers and encourage global collaboration among companies with offices and representatives across the globe.
