New AI assistant Copilot capabilities in Word, Excel and PowerPoint are now available for users of Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses. From now on, AI assistant Copilot can perform multi-step tasks directly in documents, worksheets and presentations while leaving control over the applied changes to the user.

Previously, Copilot was not advanced enough to fully manage apps or independently complete tasks. The AI assistant could only answer questions and suggest steps to achieve the desired result.

However, Copilot has recently made significant progress in the accuracy of following instructions, reasoning capabilities and the overall quality of working with documents, worksheets and presentations, which has enabled Copilot to perform advanced tasks as a full-fledged assistant.

Capabilities of the AI assistant Copilot in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

For example, in Word, Copilot enables users to create texts from scratch, rewrite and restructure provided content, as well as adapt the tone of the message to a specific target audience or task.

In Excel, Copilot helps analyze data, add formulas, create tables and build other visual elements directly in your workbook.

In PowerPoint, Copilot helps create professional presentations in your company’s corporate template: designing new slides and updating existing ones based on up-to-date data, building a logical structure for presenting the material.
